FloorDaily Interview: Bob’s Carpet & Flooring Transitions 17 Stores to QFloors

September 2025

When a 17-store flooring retailer upgrades its business software, big changes follow.

In this FloorDaily interview from the 2025 NFA show in Alaska, Ashlie Butler and Belinda Krauss of Bob’s Carpet & Flooring share what it took to transition from their old system to QFloors, and why the right software partner makes all the difference. They also discuss how QFloors has transformed operations, improved reporting, and empowered their team with real-time insights.

    Video Overview:

  • Kemp: Good morning. You’re listening to Floordaily.net, and I’m Kemp Harr. I’m in Alaska at the NFA meeting, joined by Belinda Krauss and Ashley Butler with Bob’s Carpet and Flooring. How are y’all doing?

  • Belinda: I’m doing great, Kemp.

  • Ashley: Good to talk to you again, Kemp.

  • Kemp: We actually just talked three weeks ago when you opened your 17th store. At that time, you mentioned going through a total change of your ERP system. I wanted to get more details on that. Belinda, you’re the controller. Ashley, you’re the owner. Most people know ERP is enterprise resource planning software. In the flooring business, there are just a few options, and you decided to switch from RFMS to QFloors. Is that right?

  • Ashley: That’s right. We switched in May.

  • Kemp: How long were you considering the switch before pulling the trigger?

  • Ashley: We were in touch with QFloors for about two years. I kept going back and forth.

  • Kemp: Why did you make the decision?

  • Ashley: We liked the people, we liked what we saw in the program, and we felt it fit with both our sales process and our back-office needs.

  • Switching from RFMS to QFloors

  • Kemp: Bob’s Carpet and Flooring has a long history with RFMS, right?

  • Ashley: Yes, a little over 25 years on RFMS.

  • Kemp: Almost everyone in the business engages with that software. How was the learning curve in switching?

  • Ashley: Of course, there was a learning curve…it was a system migration. But QFloors’ support was awesome. They walked us through it, and now we’re over the hump. We think we’re really going to love it.

  • Kemp: So you’re happy with the decision?

  • Ashley: Very happy.

  • Kemp: Belinda, as controller, you deal with a lot of details. Are you getting the information you need from QFloors?

  • Belinda: Yes, QFloors provides real-time data. I don’t have to wait weeks for financial information. I can get a snapshot today, tomorrow, whenever I need it. That wasn’t the case with RFMS.

Their support team has also helped me design reports Ashley and I want to see. It’s one thing to put data into a system, but if you can’t get it out, it’s not useful. QFloors has been awesome in helping us create the reporting we need.

  • Migration & Implementation

  • Kemp: Tell me about the migration. Did they hold your hand through the process?

  • Ashley: Absolutely. From Chad to all the trainers, they were fantastic. With 17 locations, they brought a dozen trainers who went to every store, working with every salesperson and staff member. I can’t speak highly enough of QFloors’ support.

  • Kemp: Was this an expensive process?

  • Ashley: Not at all. Of course, there’s a year-one implementation cost, but we’ll recoup that. In the long run, it’s going to cost us less per year than RFMS.

  • Credit Card Integration

  • Kemp: Credit card integration is a big trend now. How has that been with QFloors?

  • Ashley: QFloors gave us flexibility. We can either surcharge customers or absorb the cost. We chose to absorb it for now, but we still have the option to pass it on later if needed.

  • Peer Recommendations

  • Kemp: Being part of the NFA group, did you talk to other members before making the decision?

  • Ashley: Yes. I spoke with Larry, Dakota, and Kelly Flick at The Floor Store in California. They operate a similar-sized chain and use QFloors. They helped walk us through what to expect and shared their procedures. It was very helpful.

  • Roomvo Integration

  • Kemp: Since you started this process, the big announcement came that Roomvo purchased QFloors. Are you using the visualizer?

  • Ashley: Yes, we actually signed up with Roomvo before the merger. We use their website tools and visualizer. Customers can go on our site, pick products, and those leads come straight to us with the exact product they looked at. We can send that to our salespeople.

We also have iPads in stores, so sales reps can use the tool in the customer’s home. But most often, customers use it themselves at home.

  • Why QFloors?

  • Kemp: You know, Terry Wheat created RFMS as a retailer. Many thought that made it the “dealer’s software.” Why does QFloors work better for you?

  • Ashley: Chad’s family at QFloors was also in flooring retail. It’s a little simpler and less commercial than RFMS. Our sales team loves it, and it feels like it was made for them.

  • Wrapping Up

  • Kemp: We’re here in Alaska with the NFA group. Have you been enjoying it?

  • Ashley: I have.

  • Belinda: Oh, I love it. It's beautiful and unlike anything I’ve seen in Florida. The topography is amazing. Great place to visit, though I don’t think I’d want to live here!

  • Kemp: Do you attend the NFA meetings regularly?

  • Belinda: About once a year. I love the member meetings, sharing information, learning best practices, and bringing those ideas back with us.

  • Kemp: Fantastic. Thanks for talking with us. I’ve been speaking with Belinda Krauss and Ashley Butler of Bob’s Carpet and Flooring, a 17-store independent retail chain in Florida.
